Hi, I’m Tanya. And I’m a black hipster.
TBH, I’m probably about 50% hipster. But I’m 100% black, so that makes theblackhispster.com either 150% accurate or 75% accurate depending on how you do math.
I’ve heard that “hipster” subculture is dying and that being both black and a hipster is impossible…which is an interesting conversation if you dig into the history of hipsterism. But, I digress. For the sake of this blog, I’ll tell you where I’m coming from.
My definition of hipsterism:
- having consumer habits outside of the cultural mainstream and…
- staid and indifferent to trends
I like indie movies and dive bars, and blah blah, insert more hipster cliches. I thrift shop and buy vintage clothing and provide personal shopping services to those who are interested. Here, I’ll be writing about thrift and vintage clothing and whatever other hipster-y things sneak their way in.
